For those of you who don't know me, I'm Annie Mc. I'm 21, I play Ultimate and I am addicted to chocolate. I spent last summer interning at Wizard Magazine, and the fall after that interned at Marvel Studios in LA. It's all leading up to one goal: I will one day be editor-in-chief of my own comic book company. That's the plan, anyway. This blog will chronicle my journey, from lowly intern to lofty executive, from rookie scribbler to famed scribe.
Some of my favorite writers are: Neil Gaiman, Brian Bendis, Joss Whedon, J. Michael Straczynski, Frank Miller, Kurt Vonnegut and William Shakespeare. I need to read more Vonnegut. My favorite comic series include Fables, Powers, Rising Stars, Astonishing X-Men (Whedon, not Ellis) and of course, Wonder Woman. Someday soon I will write the first great Wonder Woman screenplay. Someone has to do her justice, despite the star-spangled underwear.
Right now I'm home from school, doing chores whenever I'm caught lazing around. I've had two weeks at home with nothing to do, and so I've re-read the Ender's Shadow series- all of it- learned to flip a paper clip on my knuckles and gone out for sushi three times. Luckily, for the first time I won't be stuck here for the summer- in two days I'll be on a plane, crossing the Atlantic on the way to sunny Galway, Ireland! I've found a hostel there where I'll work in exchange for a bed, meet tons of people my age, and have plenty of time off to travel. I'm looking into hooking up with some Ultimate teams there, who hopefully will help with travel arrangements all over Ireland. For my next post I'll be jet-lagged and grumpy, but I'll be jet-lagged and grumpy in Ireland- which means I'll probably also be drunk.
So welcome to the first post of my blog, and I hope you'll stick with me for a while.
Annie Mc
