I woke up at 1:30 pm, the result of jet lag and heat exhaustion combined. I went online and sent e-mail messages to everyone I could find on Facebook in Galway who has interest in Ultimate... so far with very little success. I will print up fliers tonight. Then Hannah and I made friends with some people by running around to rooms and asking if anyone wanted to come with us to walk to Salthill. We spent all day wandering around the Claddagh and the Spanish Arch, and Salthill Strand, and up and down High and Shop Streets. You would not believe the temptation to go shopping, though I did not spend a cent. Except on a digital watch, which was necessary to get to work on time in the morning. There were so many beautiful and colorful things to wear, and gorgeous pottery and funny toys. (sigh...) If I had a million euro... It was much nicer to have someone to talk to while I traveled. Especially because we agree on ridiculous things to do.
Luckily, for staff travel to the Aran Islands, Connemara, Cong, and the Cliffs of Moher is free, so I will be going to Inis Mor tomorrow morning. As for tonight, Hannah and I spent a lot of the evening in Eyre Square, listening to traditional musicians and reading, but once the sun goes down- it's 9:20 at night and the sun is still up- we'll probably go out to a few pubs on Shop Street. As always, the plan is "don't get kidnapped, murdered, or taken advantage of."
